The Bellatrix upgrade for Ethereum, among the final upgrades prior to the Merge occurs, went live. Bellatrix can be an important step towards The Merge, that ought to happen around September 15. The upgrade prepares the chain with the Merge.
Bellatrix Activated: Paritosh
Bellatrix means that the validators can produce updated beacon blocks, which contain the data for merging the consensus layer along with the proof-of-work layer. The Merge is only going to take place through the Paris upgrade, that is expected to take place around September 15. This should be executed at triggered by Terminal Total Difficulty (TTD) of 58750000000000000000000. Subsequent blocks will be within the beacon, produced by validators.
The Ethereum Foundation has described the process as follows,
“Once the execution layer reaches or exceeds the TTD, the subsequent block will undoubtedly be made by a Beacon Chain validator. The Merge transition is known as complete after the Beacon Chain finalizes this block. Under normal network conditions, this can happen 2 epochs (or ~13 minutes) following the first post-TTD block is produced.”
The price tag on Ether had opted up by 6% inside the leadup to Bellatrix, also it currently sits at roughly $1,660. Analysts and industry insiders expect Ethereum to get a solid push from Merge, and so are hoping that it’ll be the beginning of an excellent bull run.

How Stakeholders Are Preparing
However, not absolutely all node operators have made the required changes to get ready with the Merge. About 26.7% of node operators may find themselves syncing for the pre-fork chain. Node operators have already been asked to upgrade their clients before epoch 144896.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin also reminded them to take action. Ethereum core developer Tim Beiko also said exactly the same on Twitter and was also celebrating the occasion.
The merge continues to be likely to happen around Sep 13-15. What’s happening today may be the Bellatrix hard fork, which *prepares* the chain with the merge. Still important though – be sure to update your clients!

Meanwhile, Binance has suspended deposits and withdrawals of Ether and Wrapped Ether on several networks beginning with September 6 before Merge is complete. FTX has said that it’ll suspend ETH and ERC-20 token deposits and withdrawals around 30 minutes prior to the Bellatrix upgrade. Aave may also not process Ether loans temporarily.
